Approach
The project works with 500 smallholder coffee-farming households to enhance productivity, income and resilience through the Integrated Farm Planning (IFP) approach, accompanied by further levers. The IFP approach promotes a long-term vision for the farm and household-level decision making.
The project
- Supports households to develop and implement their individual Integrated Farm Plan
- Trains on coffee production, food crops, livestock, and agroecological practices to mitigate climate shocks, increase productivity, and food security
- Strengthens women’s participation in decision-making through community dialogues
- Improves the access to finance and markets through Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) and market linkages
EVALUATION & LEARNING
The project will not be evaluated externally. The project results will be assessed on the basis of monitoring and internal evaluation data collected by JESE.
IMPACT
After two years, we expect the following impact:
- 15% increase in average annual household income from coffee sales
- 15% increase in average annual household coffee yield
- 85% of households report at least one additional on-farm income source
- 85% adoption rate of at least 5 of 8 key agroecology practices
- Increased participation of women and youth in decision making processes
- Improved access to affordable financial services
